چکیده

Heterotrophic microalgae are recognized as a source of bioactive compounds. However, there still some drawbacks for their use at an industrial scale associated with the high cost glucose, main carbon in heterotrophic cultures. In recent years, significant efforts have been made to investigate more sustainable sources produce biomass. this study, capacity Schizochytrium limacinum grow on waste-derived volatile fatty acids and effect that produces biomass profiles were investigated. Acetic, propionic, butyric, valeric caproic acid evaluated independently, well synthetic mixture (VFA). The acetic butyric resulted good productivity, while propionic higher content odd-chain (OCFA), increasingly investigated due potential benefits human health. VFA was validated through utilization biowaste derived effluents from platform. produced 18.5 g/L, 54.0% lipids, 46.3% docosahexaenoic (DHA) 25.0% OCFA, concluding waste can DHA OCFA suitable ratio DHA/OCFA applications.

Volatile Fatty Acids and Fatty Acid Composition of Silage Species

In this study, total fatty acid composition and volatile fatty acid of silage species in Turkey was determined by using Gas Chromatography (Shimadzu 15-A). Total lipids were extracted from the corn silage, alfalfa silage and figüre silage samples by the method of Folch et al. Silage species were a total of 15 different fatty acids. These fatty acids between C12 to C24 have changed. Unsaturated ...

Fatty Acids: Branched-chain

Branched-chain fatty acids are common constituents of the lipids of bacteria and animals, although they are rarely found in the integral lipids of higher plants. Normally, the fatty acyl chain is saturated and the branch is a methyl-group. However, unsaturated branched-chain fatty acids are found in marine animals, and branches other than methyl may be present in microbial lipids. The most comm...

Stimulation of fetal hemoglobin production by short chain fatty acids.

Butyrate, a four-carbon fatty acid, and its two-carbon metabolic product, acetate, are inducers of gamma-globin synthesis. To test whether other short-chain fatty acids share this property, we first examined whether propionic acid, a three-carbon fatty acid that is not catabolized to acetate, induces gamma-globin expression. Sodium propionate increased the frequency of fetal hemoglobin containi...

Kinetics of volatile fatty acids and hydrogen production during anaerobic digestion of organic waste material

This short paper describes the changes in VFA and hydrogen production in time, during an anaerobic microbial digestion where the organic waste material was given as a substrate. The experiment showed that the reaction run most efficiently between 6 and 10th hour of the reaction time. This can be an indicator for future experiments on VFA and hydrogen production optimisation.
